We are born, We Live, We Die. It seems quite simple. Alas, it is not. Most births happen easily enough, some with the help of modern medicine, more often than not they happily occur as nature intended. Living is where things get complicated. As free willed beings we humans decide the majority of the situations we get ourselves into. Life will thrust itself upon us giving us no choice but to hang on to what little sanity we can find. Usually we have to look no further than the mirror to see the cause of our happiness, sadness, grief or sorrow. Death is an ever present friend. Statics suggest there is a death every 2 seconds, 100 every minute,6000 every hour, 150,000 every day and 55 million every year. If you work in certain medical fields you witness more of Death than the average person strictly due to proximity. Death brings dread and loathing where ever it goes. Death can come as a thief, suddenly without warning. Death can determine how long or short our stay on this watery orb lasts. Death visits some people more than once in their life time, taking some completely over the edge and allowing them to return to the living, merely cradling others within a hairs breathe of oblivion, while others only come within inches of its presence, close enough to realize they could have died but did not. Death can create a state of limbo, not with out life but not among the living either. Death bring its companions, grief, bitterness and relief. What friend Death brings with it depends on the circumstances surrounding the passing. It may bring only one or the whole group may arrive chaotically. Yet it is an ever present friend, one who also provides peace, release, healing and closure. We are instructed to weep at a birth and rejoice at a death. Death holds our hand as it leads us Home.
Just thinking out loud for all the world to see.............................
